L'Atelier Du Liver: A customizable crowd scene inspired children's book design and illustration project.
This project is hands down the most ambitious project I have been apart of. The client needed a series of where's Wallyesq (Waldo) illustrations for their startup book publishing company. I have been part of this project from it's inception and it has been inspiration to see how my client has worked to develop the unique technology needed for the process and all the other elements required in such an intricate product. What makes it all the more challenging is that the books are printed on demand in stores. Check out the website to find out more. https://www.latelierdulivre.fr/ The icing on the design challenge cake was that each spread has a unique character that the children get to design in store and I have to design and create interchangeable assets from hair to clothing for each spread.
This is my design sheet where I worked to develop a system of populating the scenes without having to start from scratch every time and to help maintain consistency throughout the project. This was essential to the smooth running of the project and I learned a huge amount tackling this challenge.
Each spread has around 100 characters in and is designed around the different countries you get to visit in the story. Each spread also includes interesting facts about the places they are visiting and hidden object that you need to find. Can you find them all? It's pretty tough.
