Illustrations for  Child Anxiety Books
This project was a fascinating opportunity to explore and understand child psychology in relation to anxiety as well as to understanding myself. The client offers a service that treats whole families where children had issues with anxiety. The idea was to give context to the physical symptoms and by intellectualizing these issues they can build tools to manage and mitigate the struggle. As the project was educating both the children and parents at the same time I was called upon to illustrate 2 books, 1 for the children and 1 for the adults. This was a fantastic opportunity to re frame concepts for both age groups and I am extremely proud of the results.
Grown up book cover illustration
A set of the children's edition illustrations, exploring rage, self care, adrenal overload and self worth.
A set of illustrations for the grown up edition, exploring loneliness, vulnerability, rage and self doubt.
Some of the illustrations focused on understanding the impacts of long term stress and anxiety on the patient. We worked to express these concepts in a clear and entertaining way removing the stigma and keeping it all out in the open.
Par of the challenge is that the issues faced by children experiencing such high levels of anxiety is the results are often very embarrassing as well as being unpleasant. We really tried to deal with these head on.
