A Faith Based Series of Children's Books
For this project I was commissioned to illustrate both Genesis and Exodus from the bible from a secular perspective. It was massive and challenging project that worked out really really well. The story allowed me to explore huge and powerful stories with my own unique approach to linework and colour.
What was even more challenging for this project is that I had to layout the manuscript in 5 different languages. This meant that the artwork had to leave a lot of room for the text as the best translations result in very varied paragraph lengths.

Here are some of the development sketches I made for this project. I needed to reference as much historically accurate textiles and accessories to to give extra authenticity to the story and the narrative especially as the authors focus was to approach the bible and it's stories from a secular perspective.
The final style was a wonderful combination of elegant classical line work and bring friendly colours. I looked at it like building a stained glass window. You can see this particularly in the Noah's arc spreads.
